I have seen the types of guys that generally go into the army. From my experience, most of them aren't people who wish to serve their country, they are fucks up who have no other outlet in life, so they join the service. I am sure there are good soldiers, but I feel "real" soldiers are few and far between.

I feel I known what you mean. I spent a few weeks staying with my cousin on a military housing camp and generally the people training there were complete douchebags. The type of people who think just because they're in the army they demand instant repsect despite not actually doing anything yet.
