Have you ever realized that we keep moving god further down the line?
Thousands of years ago, a boy looked up at the sky, and asked his father "Dad, why does the sun rise?"
Dad doesn't know. He couldn't have known. So, he says "God does it."
Now, a boy asks his father "Why does the sun rise?"
"Well, the sun doesn't really rise, son. We rotate around it, giving it the appearance of rising and setting."
"Why do we rotate around it?"
"Because of gravitational pull, a force that attracts objects to each other."
"What causes gravity?"
"God does it."
We may be more likely to say "We don't know.", which is arguably a better response, but because we don't know, some people will leap at the chance to say "God does it."
We could explain the intricacies of this world to a T, with complete and undeniable accuracy, and as long as there was still a place where our knowledge fell flat, there would still be people who want to say "We can't figure it out, because god did it."
When, in reality, it's not that we CAN'T figure it out. The dad from thousands of years ago probably thought that he couldn't figure out why the sun rose. Well, we have.
And we'll figure out why gravity occurs.
Science is understanding the world around us. God may exist. But god shouldn't just be our way of saying "A wizard did it." God should be the driving force behind the universe. The method we came to be, if not the reason for our being. If god exists, delegating such a being to a hand-wave explanation for things we don't understand is... insulting. If god exists, science is our tool for understanding the glorious gift of life god has given us.

Lolwut? Tyson of all people should know that science is wrong all the time. He's an expert in space, the science of space is changed constantly. A great deal of what we "knew" about space 50 years ago is now proven false, that will probably be true of what we know now.
He's a smart guy, but he says some stupid things when he gets on his atheist tare.

Don't believe in God= Shut up about it.
Believe in God= Shut up about it.
Please.

call me retarded, call me a bible thumper, call me a blasphemer, but I have yet to see where it is written in either text book or bible that only one of the two can exist. is it so freaking hard to think that some people want to understand god, and to understand god is to understand the world he made, and to do that you need science? so to deny science is to deny god? Why does it always have to be religious nuts off the internet then atheist ass holes on the internet?

unless it's proven false afterwards, like they thought the earth was flat

Okay...I believe in science over religion...but that's just ASKING for an argument...and it actually sounds a little stuck up the way it's said there.

Are we talking straight-up facts (which extends to everything and anything) or just what the scientific community believes to be true?
Because if I recall correctly, there's been plenty of times that there was need to revise statements made from earlier on.
Unless if they were right because they believed it at the time, which would... y'know, mean that it must of been believed to be true.
If we mean straight-up facts which extends outside belief, then I think just using "science" is a bit specific and, possibly, unnecessary to be mentioned.
Science is cool and all, and I think it's pretty damn swell, but I just feel like this guy is full of himself.

I'm prepared for red thumbs, as all the others who argued this were.
While it is true that scientific LAWS are most likely 100% true and cannot be disproved, many of the things we consider to be true are theories and still have space for reasonable doubt. Hundreds of years from now we may discover a particle that moves faster than light, just recently a scientist discovered that there were particles smaller than the neutrons and electrons of an atom. There's a raging debate over global warming by Carbon releases right now, which has been proved hundreds of times to be happening and hundreds of times to be happening for different reasons.
Science is so beautiful because whilst a few things it are definite, it is an ever changing, ever adapting field of study. To say it is true whether you believe in it or not is not correct for 90% of scientific discoveries and theories. The beauty, the marvel of Science is that we ARENT 100% sure about the universe around us, and that's what gives scientists the exictment of proving or disproving theories.
Tl;dr Science is pretty accurate on some things, but it isn't all true.
