What 'serious disease' causes someone to be fat?
User avatar #67 to #33 - msvegeta (08/21/2012) [-]
Some medications do. Prednisone, for example. I have an aunt that gained like 40 pounds in one week because of it. Some people react that way to medication. Crazy **** . And people judge her, but weight doesn't come off easily.

There are glandular disorders that can cause it, or something like Cushing's syndrome can cause it from hyper secretion of the hormones cortisol from the adrenal cortex, which usually responds to high glucose by turning it into fat and protein. Pic related, it's of someone with Cushing's syndrome before and four months after therapy.

99% of fat people are just lazy.

I got in a car crash in November, and I've had to have surgery on my back. I am not physically able to walk more than 10 minutes without having to stop and sit down because it hurts so badly. I've gained almost 50 pounds since the crash and I have to do physical therapy for the next 4 years of my life, does that make me lazy? I am overweight because I can not force the ripped tenons and compressed disc in my back to work harder than they already do because it could further damage my back. But I suppose that's all my fault. JS, you don't know everybody's circumstance

Ever see someone in a wheelchair who isn't obese? I have. I guess they walk a lot.
User avatar #178 to #175 - minialice (08/21/2012) [-]
You're just an asshole.

Someone can't think of a reply.
If people in wheelchairs can keep to normal weight, then you are doing something wrong

That's like saying, oh hey somebody who has a small dick chooses to have a small dick because they don't want to go buy enhancement. But you know, just because you have a small dick doesn't mean you have to be one on online forums. Hating here won't win you friends, and make you feel better about your tiny dick

Getting defensive aren't we?
You can't grow a dick by not eating.

Simply explain to me how you are overweight because you can't walk much, but people in wheelchairs who can't walk at all can be like a normal person, not overweight?

If you aren't walking you use less energy. Therefore you need less energy. Therefore you need to eat less or the extra food is converted into fat.

Learn to science

And not eatting causes your body to go into starvation mode where in it starts holding in extra fat especially on females. That's not even counting the ones who've had children and therefore have a ****** metabolism. So you can't lose weight by not eatting and you obviously are eatting to much if you eat period. JS you don't know everybody's circumstance

Of course not eating at all is unhealthy.
But you eat the right amounts. I.E. Less eating if you need less energy

P.S. Your account name has mini in it. Ironic. I chuckled

Even if someone has Cushing's with therapy, moderation of food, and exercise they won't be obese.
User avatar #59 to #50 - CrashingSea (08/21/2012) [-]
That's exactly it... WITH therapy. With moderation of food and with exercise it can be hindered but the therapy is usually needed for the glandular problems.
User avatar #63 to #59 - zraxx (08/21/2012) [-]
So its the person's choice if they want to be fat, we have all this in the ways of helping them keep their weight in check, its their fault if they can't be arsed to to anything.

Many can't afford the therapy. My entire life my mother never went to the hospital because she couldn't afford it. She did what was necessary for us to survive which was struggling to keep food and a roof over our heads. Not everyone can afford the therapy.

there is a difference between your mom and someone who "can't be arsed"
