All the important things you said were true, but Timothy came from a form of Greek. Only the Old Testament was originally in Hebrew, and even some of that was in Aramaic.

Actually, it's more of something that needs to be taken in context. A lot of the churches were full of people who had no idea what they were doing, so there would be former dominatrixes who would be wearing clothes fit for prostitutes while teaching messages and the guys would be completely distracted and such. I do actually believe the Bible's always right, even if it goes against human nature, but you have to remember that some things are written and thought of by fellow fallen humans, and you also need context. So while it's not all the word of God, it is all inspired by God. Knowing the times and the cultures and the cities being written about or to, helps us understand what it's talking about waaaay more.

Ishmael was basically disowned by Abram after he and his mother, Hagar were being assholes to Isaac. That is why it refers to Isaac as being his only son.

Originally, God had promised him a son. Thinking that he could not have one with his wife, Abram went and had a son with his servant. This was Ishmael. God then said this is not what he meant, and that Ishmael was not his destined son, so Abram banished him and his mother (Ishmael then went to form what became the Arab nations). Later Abram and his wife had Isaac, who was the only son Abram was meant to have, and raised him and all that.

Not to mention, Ishmael was an illegitimate son, Isaac was his only legitimate son, who was also the one that God told him he would have.

Also, it's different in English. I'm probably going to start learning Hebrew soon so I can translate the Bible myself, and know what it really says. For instance, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was originally called the Tree of the Twisted Eye. It changed how they saw things, and they became judging. Just something I think is interesting.

Where in the Bible does it say you can pick and choose what to believe and what not to? If someone is going to live by the bible, it's either all of it or none of it. I do believe their is something in the bible about that.

So just because the bible was written in a way that follows the customs of said time period it is all wrong? I by no means am into religion, however I am intelligent enough to realize that there are a lot of positive things written in the bible. Hell, if we all were motivated enough to live by the ten commandments there would be little to no problems in the world. I grew up Christian and one of the main things I've always heard is that the Bible is "law" or as said in Sunday school Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. You can't pick and choose what to believe in the Bible, It's either all of it or none of it. But of course since times have changed and we're in a more tolerant society woman are allowed these things now. Yet gays are still evil and will burn in eternal hellfire for their sins. I'm not on here looking for an argument. I'm simply saying what I was always told growing up. Instead of looking for an argument try and actually read what was said. I grew up Christian but I'm not Christian. Since I don't agree with everything the Bible says, I'm not going to lie to myself and call myself a christian. I try my best to stay away from the & deadly sins, and do my best to abide by the 10 commandments. Not to appease the Dictator upstairs but just as a moral code. Not sure how you got any of what you said from what I said.

Atheists don't just talk about religion, it just seems that way because they only bring up the fact when there is an argument.
