Form of government =/= type of economy. We're a democracy with a modified capitalist economy (a market-based economy with a social safety net.)

Finally someone smart enough to get it, only you choose the other side. America tries to portray itself as always trying to help someone, and thats what its money is tied up into but were really spending it all on the military. and yes its great the militaries families are being compensated but they would have more money for it if they didnt send so many soldiers off to die. Theres no reason were in any war, but since we did stick our noses in it they think wed look bad if we pulled out.
