Actually, the one about running in an airplane is correct.

(Sigma)v or additive velocity.

Im still thinking about the braces one. If they were magnetic that is. Perhaps a magnetic helmet. But the other ones are retarded.

Yes I do know the braces one is retarded but it still seems like it would work in your head *-*

Could also be nickle, cobalt, gadolinium, or dysprosium.

who runs 5 miles per hour?
User avatar #9 to #5 - rickyrickyricky ONLINE (08/19/2012) [-]
5 miles an hour comes down to one mile every 12 minutes. It would be fairly easy to run 5 mph as the average walking speed of a human being is 3.1 miles per hour whereas the average running speed varies between 13-20 mph.

if an airplane is flying at 0.9 times the speed of light, and you run on the airplane 0.2 times the speed of light, you are not going light speed even though the sum should be 1.1, because of time dilation you are going like 0.98x light speed but at the same time you're running 0.2x light speed on the airplane. Problem, brain?

Magnet powder... Seriously?

An explanation as to why these do not work would be awesome. I could swear the airplane one is true.

I think the one with magnet powder and fish could actually work, given enough iron fillings fed to fish, and powerful enough magnet.

the airplane one is actually true though XD but if we think like that then....

The earth is turning

the earths going around the sun

the sun is going around the centre of the galaxy

the galaxy is hurdling through space.

so you're probably moving something like 3505km/h maybe more

Unrelated, but I thought it'd be a nice place to share (from memory, so I could get this wrong). If you were on something moving just NEARLY the speed of light, and you tried running fast enough to go the speed of light on that thing, you wouldn't be able to, because going faster than the speed of light would cause you to go back in time, and that's time or some shit keeping paradoxes from happening.
