Actually, the format has been around for a while. Just hard to find it properly used.

You seem to not quite understand what I meant.
You took a picture of a cat, put it on a pinwheel pattern, put text on top of it, and called it a meme.

Not once did I use the word 'meme' in regards to this. This is hardly something I'd expect to suddenly take off like a rocket. It was just something to get a certain group of folks to laugh. Hardly 'meme' status.

Ah. After reviewing your referenced evidence, I wish to explain that the general format of the content follows a similar pattern to that of many failed "meme" comps. I had then simply jumped from here to conclusions in a single bound.

Psh, don't worry about it. Easy conclusion to make. Honestly, I've always thought memes made themselves. The right set of circumstances with the right level of relatability at the right time is usually what makes something like that happen. I'm missing the second part there pretty easily, heh.

Memes tend to make themselves memes when a large community accepts them as such. Unfortunately, many people put text on an image that's never been seen before and say "Douchebag Potato Meme Comp" or something and then wonder why people hate them.

Fun fact: Ingestion of sugar does not affect your chances of getting diabetes. If it's type 2, it's mostly diet and exercise that you can use to pull yourself together. Type 1 on the other hand...well, no one really knows what the trigger is. Usually, it happens early childhood (hence it's moniker of 'childhood diabetes'), but it can happen at any time. I was diagnosed when I was 19. Blood sugar in excess of 700. I nearly died! :D

I had a friend who was smart enough to take me to the hospital, and he effectively saved my life.

Mind you, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Your parents are just worried for you. And rightly so. It can be scary at times. But if you're worried about if you have diabetes, here's a quick test you can do.

1) Are you urinating frequently? (I'm talking like every 30 minutes to an hour)
2) Do you feel eternally thirsty? (No matter what you drink, you can't quench your thirst)
3) Have you suddenly lost a LOT of weight?

If you have a combination of these three symptoms along with general irritability/feel-like-shit mode, those are typical signs of hyperglycemia (low blood sugar) and should probably be seen to by a doctor.

Other than that? Live your life, just don't be stupid.

I told my parents the same thing, i guess the biggest cause for their worry is the fact i can drink so much sugary beverages. (Milkshakes, energy drinks, soda etc)

As far as i can tell my urination is just fine.

Sometimes i seem to have a never ending thirst but it usually disappears after a few glasses of high sugar drinks, i can't stand drinking anything without sugar in it which is why my parents worry.

I have not lost weight, since birth i have been a very slim person. It has earnt me several nicknames like "Slick" or "Slim" or "Twig"

I know what a hyperglycemia is, i have seen my grandfather have them on many occasions, in my family the term has been given the nick name Hypo because saying hyperglycemia often is a pain.

I will be having a Medical Exam for my flight training sometime soon, i will advise my doctor of my concerns about Diabetes.

Unfortunately, it's a lifelong condition. To say there's a 'cure' is like saying there's a cure for HIV. I am sorry to hear that though. If you do end up being with someone who does have type 1 though, at least you know how to treat her/him right and not be so silly and say "OH MY GOD, YOU'RE EATING SUGAR!? BUT YOU'RE DIABETIC!" ...that one gets old, heh.

Yup! They're getting closer to helping Type 1s being able to say they used to have diabetes. It's rather exciting research, because it can also lead to other possibilities for stem cell uses.

I think it has something to do with diabetic neuropathy, where the very ends of the nerves degenerate, normally starting in the feet.

It's because laughter can make a person feel absolutely amazing when they have the whole world bearing down on them. Hell, it's why I'm on Funnyjunk a lot of the time. There's so much I laugh at, it reminds me that the world is fully of color, humor, and some very, very bright (and not so bright) people. It gets me through every day with a smile. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for him.

But, I wouldn't sell yourself short either. The saying usually goes: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."

thats so true. tbh i draw alot of my strength from people like him. if somebody can go through something like that then i can get through my silly little dramas

not to be mean but he's obviously not doing very good, I'm lazy as shit and it's easy as hell to deal with type 1 diabetes. Never had a problem in the three years i've had it, and I don't even test every day (I'm lazy as fuck)

some people have more trouble controlling it then others. don't make assumptions. your experience with something can be completely different then another persons

For a lot of folks, the micromanaging of insulin usage, carb counting, and the careful awareness of how one feels can be very overwhelming to some. Speaking from my end, I did adapt to it very quickly since I'm very much a numbers person. It helps tremendously. But for someone who isn't or is afraid of needles or is unsure about what they're doing, it can be downright crushing to someone's will. As such, it can affect their ability to function with it.

Once the patterns are clear, maintenance can be very easy. However, the complications remain just as difficult.
