Because mario galaxy is sooo much like super mario bros right?
And zelda 1 is like zelda 2? Or ocarina?

when a company reinvents itself, it goes into a different genre, not make a sequel to a sequel that has slightly different gameplay. If you look at the line of games they make, you can see them add one new bit to the games every time, they're sorta like the apple of video games.

basically mario galazy and super mario can't be compared because they are too far away from each other. Also, yes, zelda 1 is like zelda 2, you are link and you go around completing missions for zelda and beating the shit out of monsters and grabing items, etc etc

First, reinvent in gaming does not mean "a different genre"
E.G fucking halo REINVENTED the FPS genre.

"zelda 1 is like zelda 2, you are link and you go around completing missions for zelda and beating the shit out of monsters and grabing items, etc etc"

Halo is like skyrim. You play it on a screen, kill dudes, press buttons to control it and you can get it on an xbox360.

No, you're fucking wrong.
Nintendo has done pretty much every genre.
Platform: mario
Racing: mario kart
Fighting: smash bros
FPS: Links crossbow training
RPG: Pokemon
Sim: Wii sports etc

You don't know what innovation is. Fuck off

I don't understand....
halo (or bungie) might have reinvented the FPS genre, but that doesn't mean that the company reinvented itself. It just added a new bit of gameplay to the genre that improved it.
I'll admit that my zelda comparison was a bit vague so let me try again,
gameplay is a mix of puzzles and fighting, as well as from trading/leveling,
setting is in the land of hyrule, fairly obvious
the main characters are pretty much the same, you have the player character, Link, as well as several other recurring, such as zelda and Ganon
story is also fairly consistent, something happens in the land of hyrule that no one but link can stop/save and he must journey through the land, gathering resources and weapons (because he lost all the other ones he gathered the last time) and go on a quest to save the kingdom

and I think that comparing mario galaxy and mario galaxy two would be a bit more fair

Also, you have to admit that lately, Nintendo hasn't been very creative with its games

Skyward sword, super mario 3d land, a handheld with glasses free 3d.

The fact that they have brought out so many zelda games, all with the same basic concept and story, but each game feels so different and continues to sell so well shows exactly how good they are at reinventing.
