I don't really get how it can be funny by relevance.
"Hahaha! It's funny because they threaten the internet" becomes: "This is not funny because they aren't threatening the internet." and not "Hahaha! It's funny because they threatened the internet.", otherwise it wasn't even funny to begin with.
