Explanation of bug type strengths.
Grass: bugs eat it. Obvious.
Psychic: bugs can break the concentration of even the most willful of us.
Dark: Bugs are most active at night, their senses are heightened then and darkness does not affect their lifestyles.

Actually Africans are more frequently resistant to malaria because of the genetic diseases sickle cell disease and thalassemia. They only get malaria more often because the don't protect themselves from mosquitoes well enough. Also malaria isn't a bug unless you're using the term bug to mean infections. Malaria is a Protist, carried by mosquitoes.

really? red thumbs for the correct answer. Psychic wrecked face gen 1 and fighting and bug were drastically underpowered. Gen 2 adds steel and dark which among other things psychic can't do shit to and fighting hits super effectively against both. Bug gets super effective against dark to give it a usefullness boost

ironically sickle cell anemia effects africans as well, however a person with this condition has an immunity to malaria!
