Cactus juice, not cactus fruit. this is a Peyote cactus, and it's juice makes you hallucinate. It tastes everything but good. That is probably what he drank.

Well, Peyote is quite small. It goes as a little bump on the ground (active ingridient is mescaline). Sokka just ate a generic cactus, but yeah, I think the idea it that he ate that.

They also didn't include the nausia brought on by mescaline.

Well when he ate the cave honey he seemed a little out of it and he basically puked it back up.
