I tend to differ. Bruce was known for his fighting prowess, learning several martial arts, eventually developing his own, (Which is now considered one of the best and most practical self-defense martial arts in existence) and strength training to the point exceeding what most scientists at the time was humanly possible. Though I do agree with you that it may be because he wanted to prove a point or to prove himself as a fighter. (considering Chuck Norris was one of the best martial artists at the time)

Chuck is a seasoned fighter in of himself, winning several championships, but unlike what happened in his movies, Bruce Lee was very focused on making all stunts he performed be real to show what martial arts truly looks like at it's greatest: A deadly, extremely fast and beautiful art form. It was one of the main philosophies he lived by.

Chuck hinted that the fight scene against Bruce Lee would mirror what would really happen in a fight to the death. (Except it would be much faster due to the fact Bruce was known to move so fast that they had to purposefully slow down the camera footage to capture his punches, and there was no dramatics at play so Bruce would go for the kill right there)

I never intended to write doubtingly about bruces skills, but it was to my understanding not a level that could have beaten chuck at the time.
Obviously Bruce trained just as much as Chuck, but Chucks training was aimed at tournaments, where as Bruces(to my understanding) was not.
When i speak of winning i talk of a tournament fight.
I heard this from an interview with Chuck, so it might very well be coloured, i don't know.
But i must say, that Chucks actual skill level is much underrestemated.

Okay, I do understand where you're coming from, and yes, both were excellent at their fields. Though I know from personal experience that there is a distinct difference between "Tournament fighting" and "Real fighting." Chuck, as you said, is a tournament fighter, and a tournament fighter automatically shows mercy and is not willing to go all the way or fight dirty at least at first, a real fighter, on the other hand, fights to incapacitate their opponent at any cost in the fastest way possible. (but they also show to have a greater sense of self control) This is due to Bruce growing up fighting to survive in China before he became famous. And it's probably why Bruce would so easily kill Chuck in a fight due to the fact Chuck would have trouble and hesitate in going for the kill while Bruce would not.
