Well, this is a painting, not a picture. And the artist was most likely a male who had no idea how reproduction works (especially since I'm assuming this is from the renaissance era) and thought that everybody just had a weird hole in their stomachs and considered it the norm, thus Adam/Eve portrayed with bellybuttons.

OP I am an atheist and I enjoy occasional flaws pointed out in religion, but this example is just stupid.
