A long time ago, I had a connecting flight in the Detroit airport. I had never been there before, so when I got to the airport, I was greeted a beautiful, polished airport, a bustling hub of activity.
Then, to my utter dismay, I found out that my flight was cancelled due to too much frost, and was given a complimentary voucher for a hotel over seven miles away.
I found out that the Detroit airport is like a diamond mine in Africa: beautiful and sparkly, yet situated in the asshole of the Earth.

I live in Michigan around Detroit. The surrounding cities aren't that bad. But Detroit's an absolute shithole.

I'm from Detroit. Sure there's a lot of garbage, debris, and abandoned houses, but it's nowhere near as bad or dangerous as people make it out to be. Actually kind a pretty nice place.
