He's wearing the guild master armor you get for becoming leader of the mages guild. It happens a lot in the game where NPC's act like you're not part of the guild or a new member when you've become the leader.

Then you're probably one of those people who bought Skyrim after hearing all the hype about it and have never played another Elder scrolls game before. Or you just suck at it. He's wearing the armor of the Archmage. The leader of the Mage's college. It's ironic.

I would have actually played Skyrim by now, if I had a PS3.... Or, you know, money.
I tried downloading a .iso and mounting it and all that stuff (found a tutorial on youtube)
but the game was shit for me because it was all glitchy and jumpy on my shit computer.

Would you consider it deeply important to play the original Elder Scrolls games before Skyrim (when I can actually get it) or can I just go on to Skyrim?

If your computers shit, try running Morrowind on it

Morrowind came out around 2004 and can give you a general idea on how the latest Elder Scrolls work while preventing your computer from shitting on your face, Elder Scrolls 1 and 2 are worse in graphics, but have immense areas to explore as well (And can run them on your grandmas rig)

It's not deeply important to play the others, but sometimes they talk about the past (i.e. the Oblivion Crisis), but yeah, you can jump straight to Skyrim without any previous Elder Scrolls experience.

I'm sure it's funny to some people. It's just that I don't get it.
