Personally, I believe in minecraft steve is a powerful necromancer who has amnesia. You wake up on what seems to be a totally peaceful land that begins to be filled with evil creatures. I believe these creatures are drawn to /created by steve the necromancer who no longer realizes he has the power to control them. Who else could fight these creates off with ease, punch through a tree or rock with their bare hands, or open a portal to the nether like its nobodies business. Later in the patches he seems to magically realize he can enchant things to. It will be a dark day for those villages when steve remembers who he is.
