Next Batman game: Ashes of Arkham. Does flashbacks to silver age Batman and how Joker became who he became. Fastforward to now. You know how Batman passed out before Joker "died"? Well Clayface fell into the lazarus pit. So while Batman was unconscious, real joker took some cure and clayface tookover. It has been said in the comics that Clayface can fake a heart stopping.

I think Joker is alive, and clayface has nothing to do with it. Before Bats passed out, the cure was in his left hand, and when he awoke, the right! Also, in the comics, Hugo strange taught Joker how to stop your pulse for a while.
