Same here. US Army, 3 years.

6 years Airforce Sniper Division through ROTC. Just got back 8 months ago.

Didn't know air force had a sniper division... Recon, maybe... Am I far behind the curve here?

It's not recent, but not popular. We mainly do guard duty. You know the snipers on the roof in all the movies? That would be us in real life, not swat.

Army, Air force, or Navy?

Air Force

Can't say I know a lot about it, I'm Army ROTC, but general tips, get into good enough shape to max your guys' PT test, Always say Sir/Ma'am to Officers and address NCO's by their rank (something around once every sentence or two, unless they tell you to lay off it), do all the extra stuff you can, and most importantly focus on your GPA. It might sound counter-intuitive, but about %50 of your ranking as a cadet is based on your GPA. So DO NOT slack on that. Good cadets get shitty commissions when they don't focus on their grades.

Also, your sophomore year is the most important for you guys. Whatever big test ya'll got, it's your sophomore summer, so work hard and do well. That's about the best I can give you.

Thanks man, yeah I was initially going to just enlist in the Marines, but I decided that college was more important. The only ROTC's at my school are Navy and Air Force. Obviously I chose AF. But thanks for the advice. Looking forward to it.

No worries man, I did pretty much the same thing. Went Army instead though (got a larger scholarship). Ya'll got it easy though, I know a few AF cadets and they always laugh at all the shit I gotta do for AROTC. But on the brightside, I get some basic infantry training, and I don't think you guy's have any kind of combat training. You get way more sleep though, and more resources and an easier job, and higher pay... ya bastards haha

been 91K for 3 years. Armament Repair for Abrams, Bradley and Paladin... but they're reclassing me. Just don't go 19K. You'll be considered dumber than a marine.

Duly noted. My OML rank isn't ridiculous so I may not get what I'd prefer, less I ADSO, but it's good enough to get me my top couple picks. I'm just aiming for a combat branch, any of em are fine with me, really.

Don't wanna do all of it, but a request we do in ROTC a lot goes as follows:

Lower: "Charlie 31, this is Tango 16-"
Higher: "This is Charlie 31, continue 16."
Lower: "Requesting 3rd squad provide security on ORP to facilitate missions rehearsals"
Higher: "Roger, 16, 3rd squad will be in position at 1435"
Lower: "Roger, Tango 16 out".

Those actually in, feel free to correct it, ROTC-land isn't very close to the real Army, but the principles are the same as far as I know.
