If Muslims were terrorists we'd all be dead right now. Some terrorists claim to be Muslims. That's like saying that all Christians are members of the KKK and also participated in the crusades.

It's FunnyJunk - was I suppose to post a doctoral thesis on the subject? It's a HUMOR site, and this was meant to point out a singular idea - not to express an entire world view. Stop trying to look smart and cool and just have fun. ;)

To be fair though, I don't think that the whole child molestation thing was part of some protest.

And also to be fair, at least Christianity has become less violent (as a generalization) over the centuries whereas Islam only seems to have periods of peace when they are in total control and without anyone to challenge them. At least cartoonists can draw parodies of the Pope without receiving death threats (which is why EVERYONE on here should participate in International Draw Mohamed Day.) I am not saying that christianity is better than Islam - just that Christians today at least aren't violent and intolerant to the point that I feel really threatened.

I appriciate that you have a far more rational and well expressed view on this issue than most people on the internet. I would like to make it clear that while some terrorist organizations claim to be muslim, they are not, in fact, Muslims or any part of Islam. The Imam decreed that no terrorist could be a muslim. So you should not fear Islam, but rather the actions of an insane minority which is no more accepted by mainstream Islam than the KKK is by christianity.

TLDR: you're better than most, but terrorists aren't Muslims, so don't fear Islam.

That's the thing about Islam, though - their religious leaders publicly announce one thing, yet the actions of their followers are clearly different. I guess that could be said about any religion, though.

People should go to Chic-Fil-A on a Sunday and stone whoever is working to death because they're working on the Sabbath

Two things:

1. They are not open on Sundays

2. The Sabbath is Saturday, not Sunday. Christians only worship on Sunday because it is the day Jesus rose from the grave in the New Testament. The Sabbath is the day of rest, the day God rested after creating the universe for 6 days (if you look on any calendar you will see Saturday is the LAST day of the week because we use the Gregorian calendar which was primarily instituted by the Roman Catholic Church.)

And as much as some might hate Christianity, it's the main reason we have Saturdays (Sabbath) and Sundays (Worship) off in the Western world. Places where Christianity wasn't the main religion, like China, have people working the entire week.

Basically the CEO of Chick-fil-A (a major restaurant chain in the U.S.) was asked his opinion of the gay marriage issue (in the U.S. each state gets to decide on the issue so it's hotly debated nation-wide.) The guy said he stood with his Christian values and was against gay marriage. This prompted some to protest Chick-fil-A's, and the city of Chicago even told Chick-fil-A they were not welcome and denied them to build one. This caused many, many Christians to come in support of Chick-fil-A on a designated day. That's basically it.

The IRA isn't just about religion. It was highly politically motivated as well. It's like saying the Nazis only existed because of anti-semitism.

I think that a more accurate Christian comparison would be the abortion center bombings rather than a peaceful protest, Muslims protest peacefully as well you know
