They've done the maths, bro. They have reason to believe that the legs don't give any more speed compared to normal legs.

The thing is, while the legs don't give an actual speed advantage, a normal athlete after 50 meters of running starts to feel fatigue in the calves(this is especially true in speed running)and he doesn't suffer from that problem. He has no calves, therefore he doesn't tire them, which leads to less fatigue, which on the long run leads to more speed. I mean, i think its great that he achieves such speed , but in an Olympic competition its kinda unfair to give a man such advantage simply out of pity.

dude, that might be true, but a normal person gets extra strength from their calves from running. That's strength and power he is losing... people need to get it into their heads that he WOULD NOT be competing if he had an advantage... He got to that level because he is a damn good runner despite his disability. Deal with it and be happy for the guy

No, the guy is in the Olympics because he sued the bloody organization. And he is not actually losing any power since his leg thingies act as a spring which is essentially the function of the calves.

you don't know much about how muscles work, do you? his "legs" only give an upward spring while his thighs do all the work. With real legs you have your feet, calves and thighs all working together to give forward and upward forces... I'm not sure how losing those functions validate the reasoning of him having an advantage...

because it changes the game. lets try to get a example. imagine a archery competition and someone looses their arm. so they invent a way of combining blow darts to a bow. even though using your mouth isn't a advantages its no longer archery. I'm probably not getting my point across but that's me trying.
I love to play guitar. if I ever get to competition level and loose my arm. so they give me a mechanic to strum, Its not the same and they should not allow me to compete.

No, I watched something about him. People constantly complain that his legs give him an advantage, but there's nothing mechanic about 'em. All it is a bit of spring that actually allows his "legs" to move like a normal person's. If anything it's a disadvantage, not an advantage.
