i only buy music i really fucking love, and even then i only do it when i actually have money. the only album i own so far is Illinois by sufjan stevens (which i pirated long before i bought it and have listened to it far too many times than is probably healthy for any one person) on vinyl because i owned a turntable but no records and thought to put it to some use and maybe start a collection of stuff i like. if i had to buy every single song i've ever downloaded, i would be 10 years in debt

Dude, by buying music, you're literally going out of your way to do it.

Just use youtube-mp3 or whatever. You put in the link, and it gives you an mp3 of the video. It's a lot quicker than buying music.

I've only ever bought one CD, and it had nudes on the inside, so that was a pleasant surprise.

I buy music if I really like the artist. Otherwise....

I simply can't afford to spend $20 on an album, especially when I only like a few songs. And I don't have a debit/credit card to use online.

I have to really like the artist to buy the whole album. Like Florence + The Machine. Otherwise, Amazon MP3 or like I said "The best things in live arrr free"

less then 4% goes to the artist at most. if you really want to support an artist, go to concerts and buy non-cd merchandise, that's how they really make their money. you buy the CDs or albums if you want to support the label company. and no-one wants to support the label company.

I could easily download it for free, in-fact I download a lot of music for free because I don't want to own the entire album for one song.

I mainly still buy CD's to support the bands that I want to see more of.

Hate to break the ice to you, but when you buy a CD you're only giving the label money not the band. Going to shows is probably your best bet if you want to support them.

record sells also reflect on the band though.

I.E If nobody buys their cd's their estimated sales will take a dive, especially if they judge how much people will purchase concert tickets based on how many people buy their CD's.
