Hitler was a dedicated World War 1 hero, and a Patriot to Germany, In World War I they used Gas Masks, those Gas Masks would fit air tight around your mouth. That caused the soldiers to not have fancy mustaches, or no facial hair what so ever unless you had a small mustache like Hitler, and Hitler being the Patriot and dedicated to his country always wanted to show his Patriotism. Therefore the "Hitler Stash"

Did you know? Hitler had his mustache because in order to wear the gas masks back then, his face had to be air tight. So, he shortened his muustache to that the gas mask could fit. After the war, he kept it as a fashion statement.

Also, the toothbrush style was common in the military during WW1.
