I agree with him. She meant boy as in kid, young, teen, etc. I know I will get red thumbs, but at least I know I am right.

Yeah she said 'he WAS a boy, she WAS a girl' meaning as in they were young when it all started. But it also refers to their genders, so that's why she says 'Can I make it anymore obvious?' afterwards.
