The eggs are illegal because the American government is crazy sometimes.
The law against sale of food with inedible parts inside of it predates the establishment of the Kinder company. It's been around since 1938.
The cases (between 1991 and 1998) where children choked on the toys in the eggs? Those were all over the world, including England/the UK, and Canada.
The product has never even been allowed in the United States. Their sale here is and has always been completely illegal. Bringing them in can result in a $300 fine.
Which in all honesty is a little stupid.
But arguments that Kinder Surprise Eggs are banned in the US because our kids are stupid? Incorrect.
They're banned here because our government is super paranoid.
OTHER countries' kids are the ones who have choked on the eggs and freaked out over them, trying to get their government to regulate them.
