Sorry, I know I sound like a total loser for not knowing what he's called, but I played this when I was like 5 or 6, and then never again. I want to play online, but I can't remember what it was called.
I restarted the game everytime I was done and picked Bulbasaur to make him feel better. :'(

I assume you're talking about the image on the cartridge/package. However, all of the pokemon games have a pokemon on the front, which could be the only "guy" you'd be referring to, and the games where you could pick Bulbasaur only have Charizard, Blastoise, or Venusaur on the front, none of which are purple.
