I honestly think it's a fucking disgrace that this guy has been arrested or some shit just because he said something on his twitter. People say that you wouldn't walk up to someone in the street and say that. They usually wouldn't, but they could.

To quote the UN declaration of human rights, Article 19:

_Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
_
I think that this is bullshit. Sure, that guy is an asshole, but he shouldn't have been arrested for it. I'm just giving my opinion on this, but whatevs, thumb me down all you want.

Inb4 someone says "OmG UN Human rights! I hav right to free speech hurr durr"
Inb4 can't inb4
Inb4 OP deletes this comment.

i don't think him just being a toss-pot got him arrested. the fact that he threatened to murder multiple people is probably the reason. he may just be a teen thinking he's so tough but how do the police know that? he could be a psychopath and actually go through with it for all they know.

This probably happens on a day to day basis but no-one knows or cares about it because someone famous didn't get their feelings hurt by it, and the police need to be seen doing something about it or else people will lose faith in their government.

Thank you OP, I'm glad of that.

Imagine if 10,000 people said that they were going to kill Justin Bieber because, let's say... he raped someone (unlikely, but anyway). Would those 10,000 people all be arrested? Probably not, since there is an overwhelming number of them.

My point is that one person's opinion should be treated the same as 10,000 people's. I don't like the idea of people being arrested just because they say something stupid. You can see this kid obviously knew he fucked up and tried to apologize, but he got arrested anyway.

IMO We're taking one more step toward the totalitarian limited free speech government that will inevitably come into order. Angry gif cuz I mad.

Recently in the news a boy made some remarks about shooting people in his school...of course he was just being retarded and making "jokes", but he was arrested and expelled from his school.
The world is just very touchy at the moment on "cyber threats" and I guess they are doing something about it now.

Plus Daley is an icon right now what with the Olymppics and all that...so obviously this got alot more attention than it would have if it were months prior.

.gif is kind of related....Olympics/athletic wise...

I agree with the touchyness of everyone. We just have to accept that people talk shit on the internet. There's no way to monitor it all without having to censor everyone. I know I may be talking fairly grim here, but everyone needs to realize that people are being arrested for expressing their opinions.

I guess I'll go wallow in my red thumbs now. It was nice knowing you.

I think it's bad because of the whole threatening to drown Tom Daley.

I mean, sure he is all talk..but what if he wasn't? I mean, we can't be certain with the psycho-scrots of today.

If threatening someone on the internet is illegal and worthy of being arrested then you are basically saying we need the internet fully filtered to find out people who make threats just like that literally every second.

Every 13 year old shouting over Xbox live should be geographically tracked and be taken into police custody.

Or you can just tell people to block the assholes they encounter over the internet

To be fair, there are some fucked up whack jobs out there...especially on the internet. Obviously it isn't the majority, but jesus there is some crazy shit on this world wide web.

I guess, all I am saying is, if you're threatening to kill someone...then at least be prepared for the consequences of it...if you went up to someone in the street and threatened to kill them, chances are they would call the police.
