That is true! However the oldest Hobbit to have lived, in Shire reckoning that is, is Old-Token. And he only lived for 130 years. Except for Bilbo ofcourse, whom lived for years and years after he diminished into the west with the rest of the elves. But Frodo is still 50 years when he sets out on his quest, and if I remember right Merry or Pippin are older than him. And even if they were like ushumans we are 26-30 years old, that's still fairly old compared to what this post implied. Aaand I'm sorry if my english is a bit off. It's not exactly my mother tounge.

That's not true. Frodo would stop aging once the ring a hold on him. It did not have a hold on him the 17 years between when Frodo takes over Bag End and he leaves for Rivendel.

But how young he looks had nothing to do with the post because his mind was 50 years old when started his journey. But this is just small details and without them I do agree with you bro/brosephine.

Dude, I have a feeling that his work is going to shake up the fantasy genre, we have already moved away from epic fantasy to what I consider childish, mainstream fantasy (Harry Potter), but has set in motion a trend towards gritty fantasy, and I couldn't be happier.

Imagine Avatar, a generic fantasy, and Knowing having a baby... that's kinda how this story is looking...

There's a kingdom, medieval style. The cool gimmick, elements. Every pupil of the only university in the Capital city will learn one element. Other races in the land are specialized towards their elements; be they air, earth or water. The only uniquely human element is fire.

La dee dah, civil war, brother kings fighting... Surprise attack at university graduation kills many and curses the king. Protago boy and friend are sent to hunt down the Illusionist that cast it.

La dee dah adventure. They pick up two other companions who even them out bringing all 4 elements....

La dee doo, they meet special individuals capable of blending more than one element or having specialized in their own to a high degree...

Fight fight fight.

End of first book, major offensive against the Hillun by the evil king results in glorious defense. Protago boy rushes with Hillun king to hunt down the enemy general and find the illusionist who kills the king and kidnaps protago boy.

I hope you use "La dee dah" when you pitch it to the publisher. The basic concept sounds like it would have potential, though I'd actually have to read it before I could judge it. One thing that you'll have to look out for, magic seems like it is hard to write for action scenes, and sometimes comes off as a cheap way to move the plot forward.

I have actually thought of a star wars series set in the style of GRRM, I would love to pitch and write it. I have the basic concept down.

Like an Earth Elementalist is very capable of fashioning the earth as he or she chooses, or perhaps melding with the earth...

Air would obviously be able to levitate, control air currents, and be able to create storms if paired with a water elementalist...

Water elementalists can change the state of water and move water at will

Fire elementalists well... shoot fire... they often pair up with air elementalists in order to channel their flames better... or water elementalists when the need for a steam shroud is necessary...

Then of course there are the illusionists which control senses...

When it comes to magic I took a note from Rowling... One of the worst things about HP was how no one learned any new spells after the second year... and worse yet, Hermione would always come up with one at the best time! It's why they are graduating at the beginning of the book... They already have a mastery of their talents and in the first few chapters I plan to show off their signature styles...

Regardless of what you call it, in the broader sense of it, it is magic. Hell, in Brent Weeks newest book (which sucks), people can create matter using light, not traditional magic, but critics and fantasy enthusiast refer to it as a magic system none the less.

If I could make a recommendation, don't rely solely on magic for the action, but rather have it supplement it. A good example comes from the Night Angle trilogy, again a Brent Weeks piece, but this is actually really good. The main character is essentially an assassin, he has the ability to use magic, but when it fights, it is there to aid him, not to win battles for him.

If you do rely solely on magic, it might not hurt to make it taxing, which would then add more tension to the action.

Well Only University scholars become elementalists... They're kind of like the state alchemists of FMA... They rely a lot on their "magic" in combat but there are ways around that magic and there are limits to it...

I'd wanna live in the Star Wars universe. Harry Potter would be the same unless you were a wizard, and LoTR has no technology or anything, so I'd probably get my ass kicked haha.

Read the books man, they are amazing. The movie leaves out too much, including a whole fucking character who helped the Hobbits. The movies also make Aragon seems as if he doesn't want to be king, and they added those elfs who come and fight in the second movie.
The movies are okay but after I read the books, I can't watch the movies anymore.

Frodo was 30 not 50, and that is considered young for hobbits. Also, I find it kind of funny that you referred to Gollum and Smeagol as separate people.

Frodo was 33 the same day Bilbo disappeared. He left The Shire for Rivendell when he was 50.

Yep. Gandalf gave the Ring to Frodo after Bilbo's party and left. He came back a few random times to check in on Frodo, but Frodo never left the Shire until he was 50 years old.

Medicine exists too. Lightsabers don't exist. It would be impossible to create a lightsaber (That can cut through anything and REFLECT other lasers) without it being a real laser. Aka one that will continue till it fades out. You can't just stop it at a certain lenght.
