I remember these books would always be checked out from my elementary school library and getting your hands on one was like finding 100 dollars on the sidewalk.
Still remember the story about the chick who heard her church bell ringing so she went to church but it was all dead people in the pews so she ran home. Then she got chased and one of the dead people clawed her clothes and she got her shredded up jacket in the mail.

The stories alone weren't that scary, but when you had the demented-as-fuck picture staring at you right next to the story you are reading, that was some real scary shit.
