so how do you drink?

It's less about the alcohol and more about moderation.

Being able to drink and being able to drink with moderation are two different things. This being said I have a very high tolerance for alcohol. I am 6'5" and 220lbs so it takes a lot to get me drunk. The friends I typically drink with have a lot less overall mass and therefore it takes a lot less to get them drunk.

I say that to say this, it took a year or so before I knew my limits on how much I can drink in a given time frame and not vomit my guts out. Once I found that out I was able to figure about how many drinks it would take to get a fair buzz and nothing more. I've grown out of that whole "getting plastered" phase and more into a form of which it will lift my spirits, enjoy my time spent with friends, and generally make everything better. When I drink I don't throw up and don't have a hang over the next day.

A glass of Jack at the end of a long night's work is a nice way to relax after a hard night's work too. It's all about whether or not a person has the self control and maturity to let it make things better. The ones who become alcoholics are the ones who don't really have the self control to begin with.

They're saying they drink, because they drink.
And for one it's mainly for social events, it doesn't "Ruin" people. it can make a night far more enjoyable in my experiance.
I don't drink much, but when I do i become far more sociable and funny (at least I think) and as long as everyone else is having a good time.

I agree with you, i do drink but not to get drunk, i see that being destructive, i just drink two or three beers when im out because im a bit shy and that makes me relax and i can enjoy myself more then when i would not.

nah im with ya there buddy, i have now entered my 27th year on this scummy planet and after more than 10 years since my first drink, its not as exciting anymore lol
still good though, makes women easier to deal with!

i do, however, hate people that blame their actions on drinking.... its not the drinks fault, nobodys forcing them to drink, all alcohol does is lower your inhibitions so, if anything, you just do more of what you WANT to do.... anyways, rant over.... just saying :)

there's the group of people who talk about how much they drink and party, and then there's the group who gets drunk with friends to have a good time.

I don't really like the stereotype that everyone just drink to be cool. That was maybe the case in the early teens but later in life it's not like that at all for most people. It's always the people who don't drink who use that excuse to put themselves higher than others.

I agree. I think the risk of not being able to drink in moderation far outweighs any benefits of drinking. My cousin is hated by the entire family (and we have a huge family) and is in jail because of his drinking. I realize that there are people who can drink and not get drunk, but, to me, alcohol is just something I find an unnecessary risk that too many people take.
