question: how does it disprove adam and eve? Not that I believe in it, jsut curious on your sources. Besides, It doesn't say that adam and eve are the ONLY ones. In fact, If I am correct, their sons travel to other villages?
User avatar #518 to #393 - pokemonstheshiz (07/22/2012) [-]
You are actually correct there sir. But it would disprove the world population restoring after the Great Flood.
User avatar #992 to #518 - sterlingarcher (07/22/2012) [-]
yeahh, that's true. Although, there was a great flood. The story was adopted from Gilgamesh. The sumerian plains (tigris river) flooded all the time, and to them that was the known world.
User avatar #994 to #992 - pokemonstheshiz (07/22/2012) [-]
Yeah, most religions have adopted some sort of flood story. But it disproves the extent to which it says the flood reached. There's a whole shitload of reasons the flood couldn't have happened the way it did in the Bible, but I think most Christians don't interpret that literally anymore.

I sure don't, if anything I take the bible (new testament and only what jesus says) as a guide how to be a better person. I dislike anything added by and for the disciples.. IE Corinthians...etc...
User avatar #996 to #995 - pokemonstheshiz (07/22/2012) [-]
I think that's what it was originally intended to be, people just didn't understand that most of it was metaphors. It's like thinking Aesop's Fables really happened. Just because they didn't actually happen doesn't dismiss the lesson you can get from it.

All about the parables! It's nice to see someone on FJ who isn't a fagtard and also loves pokemon. Because that is awesome.

He did you know that humans share more than half their DNA with the common banana? So logically, our ancestor is the banana. We and the banana are one.

...only if you take Genesis as a literal story and not a metaphorical one but ya....
User avatar #291 to #289 - wherestheknech (07/22/2012) [-]
....than maybe god is a metaphor for people as a whole
User avatar #296 to #291 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/22/2012) [-]
Perhaps... there's a million different ways to read scripture, if you can legitimately write a commentary for the entire bible explaining that metaphorical view you just might be on to something xD
User avatar #301 to #296 - wherestheknech (07/22/2012) [-]
or maybe this is just fantasy, and we're all caught in a landslide, with no escape from reality
