Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't being Native American more cultural than racial? If you're white you could be German, French, English, or a whole mess of other cultures that are mainly "white" but Native American goes more than just a skin color, it's also a culture, and that's what they try to preserve. Maybe if you were asking about a culture of white people that were being threatened to have their whole culture gone within the next few generations I'm sure you would have gotten different responses.

The only difference between the two questions are the words "white" and "Native American".

Culture isn't mentioned in either question, yet apparently preserving one particular race is more important than another. Really people, the way someone looks shouldn't affect tradition or culture.

I'm white. This is ridiculous. White people have not had their population genocidally reduced by 90% and the number of white people exceeds 1 billion. The number of Native Americans is around 1 million.

So, while one's future genuinely is in trouble, the future of the "white race" (?) is not.

I'll get red thumbs for this, but it's the truth.

Are you implying that one's culture is based on their race? So what if the Native American ethnicity dissolves, isn't the tradition and culture what's really important? Not race?

Let's be brutally frank here. No non-native American is going to continue the traditions of the native Americans, are they? Because the native American system is very much based on ancestry and blood.

TL:DR yes.

True, but that totally eliminates the idea of racemixing and separation of race and culture. If Native American culture can be ethnic based, then surely much of Western or "white" culture can be race-based too (even if we aren't a minority)?

People who are genuinely concerned with the declining population of whites can no longer be discounted as "bigots" if what you say is (indeed) true.

White culture can successfully integrate large numbers of immigrants (though I do disagree with the idea of mass immigration on the premise that there isn't enough space in European countries) without being eroded or destroyed. Freddie Mercury was Iranian. Yet he left Islam, took up Western culture, and was accepted as being gay, for instance. American Indian culture specifically focuses on ancestor worship. Do we? No.

So why can't white people integrate into different cultures? Surely any culture that requires racial discrimination (IE selecting who you procreate with based on their race) is never going to last in the modern world anyway?

I'm not saying non-American Indians can't preserve American Indian culture, I'm saying they won't.
