do you know anything about high jump technique? its all science!

as a high jumper, i would say 85% of the jump is technique/physics while 10% is physical strength and the other 5% is luck. The fosbury is all about converting horizontal momentum into vertical. also it uses centripetal force to keep your shoulders away from the bar. thus if performed with the correct physics/mechanics, youll literally be thrown over the bar. (trust me ive experienced this). the "bending" around the bar is actually one of the least important parts (although most people believe thats what you should focus on), sure it adds a few inches to your jump, but a stronger approach is neccessary. So in my opinion the "flop" approach is completely based off of physics, its not just "moving your back round a pole". so i would find it appropriate to talk about the flop in a bio-mechanics class and not just on the track
