Ok, now hold on a second. As much as that bastard deserved it, it's fuckin scary 4chan can do that.

Lol not really since we all know 4chan can do that shit. Just like if you try to challenge them by saying "HAHA you will never find out where I live" 4chan would be posting your phone number, your facebook, where you live, and more.

That's scary as fuck to me. If (for example) I went to a public wifi spot and used several proxies and the torr project, would they still be able to track me down?
User avatar #282 to #275 - futachiblue (07/19/2012) [-]
Well if they were able to find a video camera and re-play it of the area where you were, then yes. Since probably find out what ever data they can use and find out the location and shit and shit and shit, i'm too tired to explain shit 3:37 in the morning.

That's just fuckin creepy though. I feel like I need to just stay off the internet. Forever.

Well I think most of 4chan i in the side of good, but probably they are neutral. They work for good and bad.

4chan is on the side of lols. They'll do anything for lols. Sometimes they take a break from lols to disproportionately attack someone who did something douchey once, but usually they just want more lols.

Does anyone know how the fuck DID they do that?
Guess that's warning enough not the post anything you want on /b/

its insanly simple just use the meta data which can be veiwed through adobe fireworks using that the date and time of photo can be found and where the camera is
User avatar #276 to #269 - futachiblue (07/19/2012) [-]
Well wouldn't they be able to find out just by finding out the IP address then locating where the IP address is located?
User avatar #274 to #269 - billybong (07/19/2012) [-]
i'm 99% sure any geotagging is contained inside the exif data. most of which can be seen if you go to file properties for an image file (if the info is available) or upload the image to a site like this exifdata.com/ (i'm sure there'd be programs that do it, hell photoshop should do it inbuilt)

but if i'm wrong, I hope someone corrects me!
#281 to #274 - orthorn (07/19/2012) [-]
its a combination of IP to locate the general area of upload and the Meta data on the photo
#272 to #269 - cdroid (07/19/2012) [-]
I didn't know it was possible to track a person's location from an IP. Scares the fuck out of me. This has to have taken much cross referencing things that 4chan shouldn't have access to.

When you take a picture, EXIF data is attached to it which includes the date, model of the camera, and the GPS coordinates of the location it was made.
#280 to #273 - cdroid (07/19/2012) [-]
Ok, but how did any of that help them find him?

Since it was took in the burger king, there are probably employees who saw it (security cams even maybe).
