This might be hard, but could someone help an anon out with a lingual problem? In Norway we use comma before names when talking to someone, ie. "Good thinking, Jade". Is this not the case in english?

Thanks for the reply, but are you sure this isn't just something a lot of people don't care that much about? Because in Norway the official rule of thumb is to put a comma before the name of the person you're talking to, but most Norwegians aren't that strict about it, or just don't know the rule; could this be the case with english?

Anyway, there really should be such a rule, as there are a lot of cases where a comma before a name would be needed in order for the sentence to work.

eg:
"Keep pushing, Joey!" would not be the same as "Keep pushing Joey!", as the first one is said to inspire Joey to keep on pushing, while the second one is meant for the people pushing Joey to keep on doing it, eg keep pushing him over a cliff.

Am I making any sense?
