im german myself and never found english a hard language...

i still think its harder to learn german as an american person.

It's because German has so many cases. English speakers are just not used to it.

Also German shares quite a few traits with English, what with the Saxon invasion and all.

I'm Swedish and dyslexic, despite that, I'd say English is quite easy to learn. But that might be because it's a small country so most movies and tv-shows are in English.

And the grammar is pretty similar:
"That cow has a hat and a bell" would be:
"Den kon har en hatt och en bjällra" in Swedish. The only difference is the words. So at a basic level you'd only need a dictionary. The of course, it does differ in a little bit more complex sentences.

Also, we start to learn English at the age of 9.

I can understand it straight away, there are some rare instances where I have to think a word and translate it in my head, but I have near the fluency of a native, so it's not that much of an issue.

Russian is generally fairly difficult to learn if English is your first language, and vice versa.

I found it hilariously difficult in school classes, but self teaching myself with various sites, it was fairly straight forward...for a good part of it anyway.

It's also hard enough learning a new alphabet. Especially certain letters like the letter 'ь'. Palatalization isn't something that's used in English, so it makes pronouncing a lot of words difficult.

It wasn't so much the alphabet for me, that was one of the easiest parts, it was the grammar rules that killed me.
