As a woman it makes me sad to say that it isn't only the Vatican.... a few super women's rights groups are against it as well, saying that women should only be allowed to have the pill because women are the ones who get pregnant, so they should be the only ones with a right to say weather sex is to try for a baby or sex is to just have fun.

I have to say, a male version of "the pill" scares me, only for the reason that men wear condoms to prevent pregnancy and STDs. If the pill was made available I can see the spread of STDs growing because the pill doesn't prevent it, and people make dumb decisions as it is when it's only the women on the pill. If men know they don't need a condom to prevent pregnancy, then why wear one? I know not all will ditch the condom, but I can forsee a lot doing it. I think that's a issue with teaching safe sex more than trying to suppress the release of the male pill though, but then you are talking about the problems that we face (at least in the US) where people don't want to teach safe sex. While pregnancy may go down, I'm afraid STDs may go up if people aren't educated properly on why a condom is important, even if the male is on "the pill".

Hmm, I understand that concern. It would help the people in a long relationship though. Well, I take my relationship as an example, it would help a great deal in mine and seeing some reply's, it would help a lot of others as well.

My GF is on 'the pill' not because of anti-conception, its because of the brutality of her 'period' that she likes to keep in control and without extreme pain. A 'man' pill would only be for anti-conception purposes and would indeed, give lots of men a 'free ticket' to have sex without a condom... Which will result in a steep rise of STD's.
