Have you considered that some vegans do it for the health benefits?

They're vegetarian, not vegan. But it makes no difference. Obviously you can be out of shape on a vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous diet. The point is...pointless. www.veganbodybuilding.com I myself am vegan, don't exercise, and I'm still pretty muscular for a female. I grow muscle just from taking in the groceries... So, point is invalid.
They are die hard, anti cruelty, Petta commercial making Vegans. Linda wrote a vegan recipe book. Ever since about thirty years ago when they were eating lamb at a restaurant while watching the little lambs play outside the window. Sorry.

He calls himself a vegetarian. According to this, he is not vegan. www.whyculturedmeat.org/nonvegans/Paul_McCartney.php It could be wrong, but I don't care to research into it further.
And Linda McCartney being an idiot has nothing to do with veganism. Though veganism can prevent all forms of cancer, including breast cancer. Though if you were raised on an omnivorous diet, your parents have already put you at risk for developing diseases and cancer later in life. Of course there are other factors too that contribute to cancer (parabens, for example), but animal products are the most potent carcinogens we're exposed to on a regular basis according to Cornell University. So cutting them out of your diet is going to help you a lot in preventing cancer.

These people don't realize the increased lifespan of heard animals, the quality of life in a protected acreage, with vet care, birthing help if there's trouble, Insect protection, perpetual feed, hay, salt no matter what, Shelters from weather and freezing, shots, etc...in greater populations than they would have in the wild.

Health Benefits? They do it for some sense of moral superiority. I'm in college right now, and it seems like veganism is the latest fad there. So far I've met at least 3 dozen Vegans there, and a few before college, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM kept prattling on and on and on about how great it was to be vegan, and how happy they were that they were "saving animals" and that I was a bad person for killing animals and needed to convert to veganism. It seems to me that people tend to go with veganism more for a sense of moral superiority than for health benefits, especially since the drop in protein that inevitably happens to vegans without dietary supplements lowers your immune system's effectiveness.
I eat meat with every meal, and drink milk and eat honey and whatnot all the time.
TL;DR vegans do it so they can enjoy the smell of their own farts.
