Except that he said the were going to 'ban smoking cigarette in the whole campus' and would get fined if they do. I merely asked why they don't simply fine them if they smoke in a non-smoking area instead of making the entire campus a non-smoking area.

I do not mean to come across that way if I do I'm simply saying they understand the risk they are taking. Plus I lost all of my grandparents to lung cancer and other smoking related health factors. So I am a tad bitter. I know plenty of smokers who are good friends of mine. I don't hate them for what they do its just seems silly to smoke. I don't understand why someone would do it is all. To make a very radical example its like jumping off a cliff because it looks cool. You know you're gunna die by jumping but you just wanna look cool. I'm not saying that is how a smoker thinks I'm just saying its how it appears to me.

You're right dude, you should be able to smoke in peace. I mean, it's not like smoking in front of a popular place that has many children going to and fro is bad. It can't hurt others, why the hell would anyone try to stop you.

if i am standing directly next to the door blowing smoke in the children's faces, then yes, your sarcasm would have a point. but i do not do that, and the direction in which i am exhaling smoke is always away from people. my smoking is only harming me. bitching about me smoking outside is like bitching at people with a running vehicle and it's exhaust.

I know that feel . I smoke for enjoyment , mainly with friends when we get coffee or on nights out. Plus i like smoking when in the car . I never understand those that need to light up among non-smokers, or blow smoke in front of other people. As you said it is inconsiderate and disgusting for them.

Most likely people start smoking because it's "cool". And then they get addicted. For me, I started because I wasn't aloud to do it (under 18). Then it just became a vice to deal with things, I never really smoked that much, maybe a couple cigarets a day. I haven't smoked for about 2 weeks now and it feels good.

Keep it up!

2. Usually, you'll have a friend who smokes, or one who trys it.
3. You are usually a teenager with lots of drive for certain things and little fear of danger.
4. There is plenty of rationalization to smoking to contrast the reasons not to smoke.

I have a parent that smokes, and that's why I will never try it: I know what that shit smells like.

I guess it can go either way. I know some people like that. If people were less like their parents, the world might be a better place.

Plus, my dad blew smoke in my face when I was 13 and made me breathe it because I always held my breath when it came my way.

Yeah, my mom smokes in the garage when the weather's bad, and I hold my breath to get to the refrigerator out there. I glare at her every time she goes out for a smoke.

If social stigmas and facts about smoking were enough, nobody would smoke. Quitting can seem very hard, and attempts to quit can be demoralizing and create negative reinforcement making subsequent attempts even scarier. Supplements may be the wrong idea too.

If she ever wants to quit, I recommend reading "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. It's a Best Seller and you can check it out from your local library. The book is a must for you too if you want to understand her dilemma.

so you are justifying your stupidity saying there are more stupid people in the world? I think smoking is one of the most stupid things you can do as it hurts your health a lot and at the same time it is really expensive but anyway, while you smoke just for yourself and I don't have to swallow your smoke (as while you smoke you also hurt other people when they smell it) is ok for me.

Well, first of all, that was a Bill Hicks quote. I'd advise you to talk to him, but he died of pancreatic cancer in the early 90's, so. And it's not like smokers are blowing smoke down your throat. Christ, if you hate it that much, just walk away from people who are smoking. Secondhand smoke, believe or not, is much less dangerous than the media and your health teacher make it out to be.
