It is possible to delete comments on your own content without leaving any trace of the comment. The only thing that signifies it is the comment numbers.

I haven't deleted any comments, and I don't think it's possible to delete without any trace.

When you choose to delete a comment left on your own content or profile by anyone, it will prompt you for the option to "Leave a message" which says "Comment was deleted by [Op's name]," or to "Leave no trace," which deletes the comment completely, and no other comment ever made on that post or profile can use that comment number.
