I am from England and I had some girl at my college arguing with me over the fact that she thought 60 seconds and a minute were not the same. She was heating her lunch in the microwave and she pressed the 60 second button twice and she said it was trying to cook her food for 1 minute 20 seconds. I had to sit her down and explain that she is in fact retarded and it means 120 seconds. To which she replied 'No because 60 + 60 is 120 but 1 minute + 1 minute is 2 minutes, you're so stupid.'

I won't lie, as an American I must say we have a LOT of stupid people in this country. But you also have to realize that we are the 3rd most populated country on the planet with around 300,000,000.

Let's say that 1/50 Americans are this stupid. You're going to end up with 6,000,000 people, which is around 2% of the population. Now let's take an uneducated guess and say our neighbor Canada (35th most populated with around 35,000,000) has 1/25 people this stupid. If that's true, then there will be around 1.4 million people are that stupid. That's around 4% of the Canadian population. Even though Canada is dealing with a bigger percentage of unintelligent beings, America has more of them simply because we are dealing with the third largest country on the map. Does that excuse the fact that people like this girl are stupid? No, it doesn't. I still believe that SOME Americans need to fix this shit soon because we do look foolish. But people need remember that just because some of us are stupid, doesn't mean you should label the entire country stupid.

TL;DR : Math explaining how America's population plays an important role to why we have more idiots than other countries.
