I have summer homework to prepare for my AP classes.

Me too, not that I've started them. The AP Lit assignment is just hell.

What exactly are AP Classes like, anyway? When I was in High School, I heard that though the work might be a tad on the easy side, there was a lot of it, and it was meticulous as fuck.

It's part of the reason why I didn't apply for those classes, along with my job was time consuming as fuck.

Back in the day, it was legitimate college work. You had to work hard to pass and it was a big deal. Now, though, too many kids have been put into the classes that shouldn't really be in them, so they've become watered down. As they are, they're not really any harder(in my opinion). There's a bit more work and expectations, but it's not actually difficult.

I figured. When I first came to the USA, one of my Teachers explained to me the whole no child left behind program (if that is what I am thinking of..) where classes have to be watered down and set to a speed that fits the lowest common denominator (A polite way of saying the not so intelligent students.)

I mean, most of my knowledge, I gathered from my own private studying or independent research. Hell, even the internet. I mean, I got a 2370 on my SATs and got 80s and 90s on my Regents (Local NY State Exam) But I never really went to class, I cut a lot to work actually. I literally -just- graduated with a 70.38 Average due to my constant cutting and my lack of work turned in.

So what you're telling me is that Essentially AP classes have the same content of work as regular classes?

What I'm saying is that they go more in depth than regular classes, but I, personally, don't find them hard. Maybe I'm just smart (not to sound like a conceited prick). AP Chem is harder than a standard Chemistry class because you need to learn more and learn it faster.

It's hard to explain and it depends on the class. They're not set to be OK for the dumbest kids because they're optional, but the sheer number of kids that take them make it less of a big deal. For example, AP English Language and Compositions is a popular AP writing class that a lot of people take, so you won't ALWAYS have the smartest kids in the class. Whereas the AP Chemistry class at my school only had 5 kids in it, 4 of which were seniors so it was taken much more seriously. Also, Chemistry and other science classes are harder than English, anyway.

I'm taking AP Lit, AP Physics, and AP Stat next year. AP Lit is a LOT of work, so it's hard to keep up and manage your time. AP Physics shouldn't be too hard because I already took honors physics, it'll just be more work. And AP Stat is the easiest math class I was allowed to take.

I see. AP lit is a pain in the ass though. I feel you on that. I took it for half a year and failed miserably. So much reading to be done. I just didn't have time.

I have no idea how I'll manage. I read fast, but there are actual assignments to do with it that I just won't want to do.

Yeah. I mean, there's the whole read the questions and look for the answers. But in retrospect, that's the worst thing you can do if you're looking for grades above 70/c

I don't know. I'm really good with English classes and understanding texts. Also, I don't fail. That's not something I ever do.

I realize that I come off as a cocky prick when I explain this. But I really just don't fail classes. I don't know why, really. It just seems stupid to fail so I don't.

I've failed a bunch of classes, but that's because I was lazy and cut, or I just went to work instead of school. I mean like, I'm seventeen, I graduated on time, and I got accepted into St John's University here in New York, I'll be taking Political Science and Economics. Though I am unsure as to what i want to do for a living.

At least you've got that. I start my senior year in the fall and I have no idea what I want to major in in college. I'm kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. I feel like I CAN do anything I decide to, but I haven't found my niche.

EXACTLY MY PREDICAMENT.

I kind of want to go into acting, or become some kind of movie critic. Even a historian. Something that I love.
But I needed to make a choice. Tbh, I might drop out of university if I don't like it, I'll just go to community college and take something that I enjoy if I don't like Economics and Political Science.

Dude, having to grow up and make decisions SUCKS. I want to spend my life doing something I enjoy that's still a reliable income. But life doesn't always work that way.

I know Right? It really does. But bro, I like my current job. I'm a waiter, and I enjoy it. i make good pay for now. But for what I actually want to do for a living I have no idea. Later in life I want to become a politician. But really, I want to do something important, that I enjoy, and for good pay.
I do enjoy acting, but I also enjoy teaching, engineering, arguing and like, a bunch of other stuff..

Well, that depends. If you are a Canadian looking to go to a University in America, AP courses are TERRIBLY IMPORTANT.
