Whether you think it was too brutal or not, you cannot completely defend the criminal. He did something illegal, and sometimes consequences are extreme. The dog was doing what he should have, protecting his territory and his humans. The guy couldve been dangerous, or maybe not, but all the dog knew was "Motherfucker, you came to the wrong neighborhood." The dog thinks like a dog. Other dogs know where his territory begins, and to him it is common sense that when you trespass, you will be attacked. And for doing something illegal, that criminal should have expected anything. i'm sure the dog finished him off fast.

TL:DR - He might of not deserved all that pain, but I don't pity him. The dog was doing his job and that criminal is a poor dumbshit.
(I just hope that you all bitch like this when animals are being abused and slaughtered, and not just for this stupid bastard.)

Sorry to rant. It just annoys me that people see themselves superior to animals.

I like how people are trying to defend the burglar in the comments.

I don't know about you guys, but I consider my dog a part of my family. Not a pet, but a legitimate part of my family. I raised her and she's listened to me when nobody else would. And if somebody had the balls to come up and hurt my dog like that, the fucker would be dead. Not because of my dog, but because of me.

Pit Bulls are generally sweet dogs (unless trained to be vicious) but they have one hell of a temper and are extremely territorial. The guy put himself in this situation when he broke into the home and then hit the dog. It probably sent the dog into an absolute frenzy. I'm not saying he deserved this, but he brought it on himself. You shouldn't break into peoples homes but if you do, at least get the fuck out of there when you see a dog like that.

In the end, it all could've been avoided. The burglar didn't deserve to die, though, but the dog didn't deserve to get hit, either. Saying the burglar got what he deserved is inhumane. He has a past you don't know about, he probably didn't know the difference between right and wrong; and no one deserves to die for attempting to steal an object. As I stated before, though, the dog didn't deserve to be hit.
