no, it's not. it's entirely different. metal has a certain mindset, community, sense of ideals, ect. "emo" music is the exact opposite of those ideals, and we don't like it being associated with what we stand for. it doesn't matter if you LIKE a band like BVB or asking alexandra, be don't refer to it as metal, and watch your word use. you can say you "like it more", but don't say "it's better", which implies that it has more musical value, which, it doesn't.

its not the same thing though. there's a very big difference in the culture and ideals in the different groups. "real" metal, like Obscura, Angel Witch, Death, ect. has this idea of artistic integrity, staying true to your influences, and always pushing boundaries and limits. bands like AA value money, being "trendy" and being pseudo-emotional because they know it will sell. it's not about the music, it's about the money. do you think Death wrote songs like Spiritual Healing or Altering the future to make money? no, they wrote it to criticize systems that they believed were wrong. nobody has to agree with what i like, and because i like metal doesn't make my likes "better", just different. i don't like being associated with a group of people that are the opposite of what i believe because our music sounds "similar" in minor ways

not been to sleep yet all night its no 1:47pm and cant be bothered reading the novels you're typing to defend all the different genres and groups in "metal" you're missing the part where I said "why don't we all listen to music we like and get on with life" just accept people like different things and you're just stereotyping bands like aa only values money and being trendy but im pretty sure if you were in a famous band you wouldn't be like ohhhh dude gotta push the boundaries, the way I see it is if the music sounds good and people like it (not everyone) then why care?

that's what i'm saying though. i'm not saying one is wrong and no one should listen to it, i'm saying it shouldn't be grouped with metal, because they're only similar to people who are uneducated in metal's history. people can listen t whatever they want, but they shouldn't try to group it with something it's not.
