Okay so he says the appearance is never mentioned (which is wrong) and he gets thumbed up;
I say it is:

"And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth . . . And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:3-9)

and I get thumbed down...

Really FJ?

And how does a red dragon with several heads and horns even compare to the image people have of Satan nowadays?
#156 to #155 - muldawg (07/05/2012) [-]
Never said that it had anything to do with the image people have nowadays. Was just saying that the appearance is in fact mentioned/described in the Bible, and that your previous comment is in fact incorrect.

Was simply making a correction in order to promote a more informed society.

Because of Dante's books. Basically all the images of Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, Satan, God and Jesus, angels and demons, Death, etc. come from his books. He kind of just pulled it all out of his ass.

Satan would be ruined without horns

I don't know... if you think about it, he's a fallen angel. So I like to think of him as one of the Seraphim, with six wings, and him being this massive creature, and his wings just constantly shedding, some crippled, some hacked off. Scars all over him, and then a and just being decked out in ridiculous armor, maybe covered in razors, that kind of thing.

Same thing with the whole "infants must be baptized or they go to Hell if they die" thing. The only text that could have possibly put that in is from Dante's writings. Also, Purgatory was basically just people saying "hey, this sounds like a good idea. Let's add it to things the Church believes in."

According to the Bible, none of this stuff is true, yet a huge amount of people believe in it.

I think is a combination of Dante's Inferno and the Greek influence.
Greeks also had "Diabolos" (Later known as Diablo) which is the basically the Devil everyone thinks about.

He's a giant multi-headed dragon in revelations. So yeah, it doesn't make a lick of sense.

Jokes aside.
I'm putting this information to support you bro.

The red scary "Devil" or "Diablo" is never mentioned on the Bible. That is a derivation from the Greek tradition ("Diabolos") not the Christian/Judaic tradition.

The term "Satan" is used many times in the new testament as the main enemy of Christ, but only as a concept and not as a character. Satan is the personification of temptation. It is also mentioned as the "obstructor" or "opposer"

In Apocalypsis or Revelations, Satan is described as the ancient serpent, which refers to the original serpent that TEMPTED Adam and Eve.

In other areas, Satan is synonymous to other "devilish" characters such as Baal, Belial, Beelzebub but only as incarnations of negative traits like lying (Belial)

Metaphorically speaking, Satan is the "temptation" each one of us have to deal with of doing something bad.

Atheists should stop using Satan as an example of why Christianity doesn't make sense. Don't use this argument, there are better ways to burn a Christian, but using a incorrect version of the stuff in the Bible isn't going to make you look any better.

If any real Christian gets angry for this then he is either retarded or they are fake "religious" people.

You speak as if ALL Christians study their bible and know their religion most of them are only religious because of their parents tbh
#153 to #134 - icefall (07/04/2012) [-]
In the contrary, I'm saying most "Christian" people don't know much about the Bible. Like you said, they are either christian because of parents or simply wannabes.

I think that in the Book of Revelations it mentions something about Satan having like 3 heads and 10 horns or some shit.

Just saying.
