I might also add that shyness doesn't imply that I don't want social interaction, but that is the common misconception, and it is disappointing to never be talked to because people are respecting enough to give you 'social distance'.
That's where the frustration comes from, we want to talk too! Just not all the time!

It's not that I don't wanna talk. I'm always up for socializing. I'm just not good at starting conversations with people I'm not very well acquainted with. I never have any idea what to say, or at least I never know what to say that could lead to a meaningful conversation.

I used to be like that, but the more you socialize, the more you loose the enxiety and inexperience. After a while you're able to come up with more interesting and less mundane responses.

Start by making small talk at the barber, grocery store or public transport..
Also go out regularly, and get buzzed a few times. You'll talk more and learn what is appropriate to say and what is interesting to say.

I responded because I feel some unseen urge to appreciate you for validating my existence with an insult. I can't even be mad at you, and you know absolutely nothing about me.

no need to thank me. I wouldn't be able to deal with such a situation so eleganlty. I'd just get mad and go full on keyboard warrior. And if it happened IRL, well, I'd just make a fool of myself by raging.

I'm shy and I love to talk, I just get nervous meeting new people so I don't talk to them until I trust them.
