There is reason behind the drinking age of 21, because around age 21 the front part of the brain is fully developed. Heavy drinking before that time can stunt the development. Now as the the affects I am not exactly sure, I am not a neurology major.

My personal beliefs are that if I can fight and die for this country then I deserve a beer. Beer, I did not say hard liquor. Hard liquor I do believe should be regulated to people 21 or older for the same reasons that alcohol is regulated now.

And no, if you have a military ID, most bars will NOT let you drink, some stores in bases may sell because they share the same beliefs I do, but if they get caught they are in deep shit.

This is response to more stuff down in the comments: Drinking is age 21, get over it. Age of consent in most states is age 16, driving varies from 14 to 18, 14 being in agricultural states where kids get a farming license that often prohibits them from driving at night. You can buy knives and airsoft guns at age 16 in most states, and buy long guns at age 18 and handguns, SBRs, and everything else at age 21 in most states, though some states it's 18 across the board.

I'm going to get a little serious here for a second. I honestly think that there should be some kind of change in that law. The most logical, and realistic, thing I can think of is that maybe there could be an exception for military members who are under 21.
If you just came from a firefight and lost one of your men, I think that it'd be only fair to be able to have a drink with the remaining people in your squad. I'm not saying that the person needs to go and get completely wasted. I'm saying that alcohol, even just a beer or two, makes it easier to talk. Not enough to tell the bartender that you love him, but enough to just talk it out with your brothers/sisters.
