something tells me that you didn't listen to any of that music. Because literally EVERY person I've talked to (from death metal fans to punk to jazz to pop) like Ratatat and Buckethead. so either you're purposefully saying its bad to pitifully try to prove a point, or you are immaturely forcing yourself to not like the music to achieve the same goal, or you have absolutely no taste in music so you stick to the most mainstream stuff you can and stand by it and try to defend it like an idiot. any of these outcomes just prove you have no idea what you're talking about and you're too damn stupid to try to put some logic in what you're saying.

I've heard songs from every one of those bands actually. I won't deny they are popular but they aren't good to me. (Didn't say you had bad taste) Just that I don't listen to those artists and don't really like them....

"every artist you could think of" does not imply that all of them are bad. For instance, if I was to ask you to list 5 foods are fruit, and you say "apples, lemons, limes, oranges, and pears" and i was to reply with "good job listing all the citrus fruits you could think of", am i saying that tomatoes and apples are citrus? nuh uh. but you can take it into that context if English isn't your first language, it's all good.

so, again, no i didn't arbitrarily label all of yours as bad as you did to mine. And again, Neon Trees and Daft Punk are artists i like. But if you're going to throw a list of artists at someone to prove music of this gen is good, don't only list artists of the same genre (that kinda.. rockish/electronica/retro feel was maintained in all your music). That's why i created a list of artists that are of several genres; light rock, heavy rock/metal, electronic, jazz, punk and classical. and the results of the original questioner (the anon that requested the list) was far more positive. and if you're basing this whole thing on opinion, doesn't (by your logic) prove my music is better? because a larger group of people like it? he DID ask for a list of good artists, why did you give him one that he most likely has never even heard half of?

But music is NOT just a matter of opinion, and until you wrap your head around that truth you're going to be stuck with a bunch of shitty music and mainstream crap... for the most part, at least. Once i started judging music by its actual music theory and not by how it sounded, i started listening to things as heavy as death metal all the way up to classical and almost everything in between. ...except pop. because artists nowadays just want to make money and appeal to the tween/teen age groups.... makes me smh :l

Dude that's your opinion that this generations music is bad. If it is just listen to some older songs you like. Yes I listen to lots of 80's-90's music but seriously if you look there is bound to be something you like from this generation

there is, but it sure as hell aint Kid Cudi! music may be judged mostly by the opinion of the people, but there ARE ways to judge music without it (something you're obviously incapable of doing). for one, you got the three pillars: melody, rhythm and emotion.
melody: the assortment of notes that makes the music harmonize and sound good. if it proves to not have a good sound to it or lacks in this field, it is inferior music.
rhythm: the beat and structure of the music. if it lacks in THIS field, it really isnt music at all (unless it is done on purpose for effect, such as System of a Down's BOOM)
Emotion: the lyrics or raw power put into the song (such as in classical music). if the music lacks this field, it proves to be meaningless garbage, such is case with the majority of music in this generation. and is the case with your music.

so bam, problem solved. your music sucks and you should shhh.
