Here I'll give you a breakdown of FJ now;
Bronies are a gigantic fan of a show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (you already know this from comments before)
Lots of people hate them; lots of times it's for stupid reasons, other times its for good reasons. I'm a Neutral
Whenever something catches a group of people's opinion for the positive, they post a shit load about it, it takes the front page. This happens with Ponytime (My Little Pony) and Bendingtime (A different series called Avatar - ranges from subseries Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra)
Both sides have taken the front page before and flooded the newest uploads with their posts (lots of them are often overused references)
Both sides have opposed each other for doing this
Both sides are complete hypocrites.
I only reference Bendingtime and Ponytime because these are the major Fan Forces at the moment; we're split between these two groups, and bandwagons in the middle
Why is it bad that people are posting about something they enjoy?
Because nobody can figure out when a joke or reference becomes overused.
This is all centered around the problem of channels (my theory, at least)
Everyone wants to make a channel that kicks an overused channel's ass
This channel later becomes annoying and people want to make something else to kick ITS ass
It's a viscous cycle and no one wins.
This has spanned everywhere from Ponytime, to Futurama's Zoidberg, to Avatar, to feels, to Fucking-science (which wasn't so scientific as much as it was explosions), back to Avatar, to now Turtles.
It all ends with the same comment "OH YES, A [name] CHANNEL TO BEAT [name]"
TL;DR Bandwagons, bandwagons everywhere

Somebody else actually commented with that in analogy
In a way that's exactly how it is. Bendingtime became a gigantic force because LoK brought people who enjoyed TLA waay and surged them with nostalgia, creating a giant fan force.
Ponytime, well, I'm not sure why Bronies like MLP, even after seeing the first season.
But they do. And they're a gigantic force of their own.
And then there's the gray area; new pop-up fads like minecraft, skyrim, all of them die off quickly because they're not backed by the longevity of shows, which run by seasons.

Indeed it did.
People got tired of it really fast, a fad built from simple chemistry wonders like liquid freezing into a solid and an occasional explosive chemical reaction, followed by the occasional paper airplane that floated because of two fans faced against each other, could only last for so long.

It was kinda like stoner humor enchanted to a better level.
You should check out the youtube videos on the older dolan comics, they arent exactly the same as what we saw on the frontpage but goddamnit I may like them even more :D

We all make mistakes.
Sometimes when I'm with a brony in a game or something similar I may feel a bit embarrassed over being in the same ''group'' as him.
Name/avatar everything has to be pony related to them for some reason. Its a FUCKING SHOW

I think that's the one of the biggest reasons why people are so against bronies entirely
They take it to these extremes where it's like they turn it into a life style.
I understand you can enjoy something wholesomely, that's your prerogative
I enjoy Phoenix Wright, but I'm not going to bend everything about me to be just like a lawyer in the game.

I know they're all over the internet, but in several places they're met with total opposition for a variety of reasons.
I've seen them everywhere from TF2 servers, FJ, to 4chan's own board that they made for them, but they mostly stay in those areas I mentioned because that's where they have can cut in their own private areas (I.E. Legion of Ponies TF2 Servers, FJ's board, 4chan's board).
Of course, this doesn't stop them from mingling in other areas, which is they're prerogative, so long as they don't get annoying as plenty of bronies do.

I have a friend who quit tf2 cause of all the bronies that where there they ruined the game for him because of how most em them were either 12 year olds who spam the mic or 36 year old men with deep voices who lived in there parents basements. Not all of them but there were allot and i can understand why he would quit over that.
I haven't been put into a situation where I was forced to deal with a 36 year old brony, though I've heard they're out there.
I did have to deal with a time where a brony came into the server saying "Guys I finally saw MLP, wow its amazing"
He decided to go on about how he was going to make his own MLP fan clan, and told people to put [Brony] in their names so he could invite them.
He did this for a good 15 minutes, on one of my favorite servers no less.
I can understand if someone would want to quit TF2 if their favorite server was taken like mine, but I decided to move on to a different one.
That's the beauty of TF2, I suppose.

I don't care much about thumbs, just that whoever reads this, whether its OP or someone else who doesn't fully understand what's going on, gets some insight on what the real problem is with FJ.
Shouting "REPOST" or "SHIT POST IS SHIT" can tell someone what it is, but it never tells someone why it is.
And that's the problem these days.

Yeah... season 3...
Honestly, I personally don't mind the references, because I get them.
However, for those who don't watch the show, they would be left wondering how a particular pony content is funny.
It wouldn't be a problem if the joke didn't require a basic knowledge of the show, but... universally understandable humor is hard to come by these days as it is.
It doesn't help that people hate ponies for no particular reason. Honestly, the arguments I hear...

Personally, I don't see what the flare of the show is, and it's probably shared with other people as well, which is why people just don't like the content in general because of how obsessive the fans can be at times.
And I've seen all of the first season, and read the fanfic "Cupcakes" which bronies go apeshit over (I thought it was rather mediocore), all in a quest to find out what's so amazing about the show and why bronies obsess over it.
Even with that in mind, I find no reason to hate them entirely, just wish the fandom would tone down on everything. A lot of the haters are just are pretty much just hating because its something they don't like, but plenty of them do have reason to dislike them to some extent.

In honest truth, it'd be nice if every fandom toned down a bit, or at least stopped obsessing to the point where it could be compared to a religion.
Each person does have their own perception on such things, and the way that they justify their hate is really... just no better than what I call a ponyfag (one who just won't shut up about pony, and feels the need to stuff pony down everybody's throats.)
And I admire you for actually taking the time to understand why a brony likes MLP in the first place, but really, the reasons vary from person to person. I personally like the show because it's different from the other shows I watch, and has likable characters.
The fact that I see references to other things, such as Metal Gear Solid and Batman: The Animated Series, are also reasons why I like the show.
