Military is funded federally, and schools are funded at the state and local level. The federal debt doesn't apply to schools because except for the approx 80 billion dollars that go to the Dept. of Education(which should be abolished as test scores has remained stagnant as spending on the department of education has been skyrocketing.) the federal government doesn't spend money on education. Apples and Oranges OP.

A lot of school funding is wasted due to corruption and needless waste/bureaucracy.
Throwing money at a problem rarely solves it and while the same is true with the military, it is better that we overspend on defense than underspend.

You really are a dumbass. Education dollars were apparently wasted on you.

That would actually be a bad day...considering the school wouldn't be able to use it's money when the Air Force didn't have the funds to protect it and it is bombed or shut down due to the invading enemy soldiers

I can tell you one thing, the military doesn't have nearly the waste ratio that the department of education has. School system in the US are corrupted and usually end up trying to hold the tax payers hostage (who endured a stint where bus service was canceled?). Fix that and you'd find people would be much less begrudging to vote for a school levy.

I'm strongly against this sticker. I don't think some people understand the importance of the U.S Military.

Basically, the quality of education has nothing to do with how the school is funded. They are paid depending on how many kids they have, and probably depending on what percentage of them pass their classes. That is why kids are taught only what is on the tests in a majority of our schools. You aren't taught to think critically, or to think at all. You just have to memorize stuff. You will be answering the exact same questions on a test as you had on a study sheet two days ago. They aren't taught the material, they're taught the bullet points that will get them to pass the test so the school gets it's payday.

I hear this comment a lot so here is a lil titbit using our local system in Naples. My mother is a teacher, her pay after 13 years? 19k annually and this is after two pay raises. The new superintendent signed on 240k per year plus a 60k bonus. He was kicked out of his previous position due to his inability to work (he leached money). After one year they realized this was a bad idea, cut costs (aka make all teachers take a pay cut, mom included. Cut medical benefits as well.) and keep him for another year... I took a temp job and made 25k a year starting (before my pay raise to 27k) I know that someone else may have stated this, but there is a lot of corruption in the school system. Last year they did a bit of cleaning and got someone in there that actually cares... Unfortunately he is outnumbered.
