I'm 17 (your age OP) and I've never used one of those diskman thingies. I know they excised before, but i've one herd about them from people over 20... Like from teachers.

I'm 16, I have used Diskmans/cdplayers the most of my life... its weird, how the fuck did you listen to music ?
#92 to #88 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]

I'm deaf.
User avatar #95 to #92 - runeception (06/24/2012) [-]

#96 to #95 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
Yes.
User avatar #98 to #96 - runeception (06/24/2012) [-]
I'm sorry for you bro :(
#102 to #98 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
No, it's cool. I was born like this. So I have no idea what music is even like :P
Nobody has been able to describe what sound is like to me.
User avatar #103 to #102 - runeception (06/24/2012) [-]
It's hard to explain, but one question, if you mind: do you have a voice in your head, while reading this you must be ''hearing'' something inside your head?
#104 to #103 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
No I dont. I see the words, and I read them as images. I don't hear them in my head.
User avatar #116 to #104 - bushydude (06/24/2012) [-]
So basically you think in images? Interesting.
#130 to #116 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
Yes.. dont you?
User avatar #146 to #130 - madjik (06/24/2012) [-]
I think he meant read, and yes most people as far as I know who aren't deaf kind of say what we are reading in our heads. "Yes.. don't you?" when we read that we know what yes, don't and you means and we know what it sounds like so when we think it in our heads while reading we make the same sound as you would if you were talking.

and as far as describing music goes, well I'm going to be here a long time trying to think of a way to do it :P PM me if you actually want a description and I will do my best to think of one, to late right now to think like that haha.

found this post though: im fully deaf myself and is a music lover... my mom describe it as a moving art. She showed me the video where the colors moves along with the music and sometime changes into lines and everything... I was so fasinated into that thing and i understood immediately even at age 5 that it has to do with listening with ears which is something i cant do (obviously) so I think it is a moving art where u can express your emotions into a combination of sounds in such a way. She also said it is kinda like reading poems only they were being sang by people.

I understand Music has to do with sounds itself and it makes u want to dance along to it and it has to do with lot of emotions in it... but ill never understand what music truly sound like so instead of trying to describe it in correct way... why dont u just show deaf people in visual way as much as possible.. it helps most of time.

Well you can respond to this one.

wow, im actually pretty sad now, all this amazing music.. and you cant hear them... well only thing i can say is that maybe one day technology can help you... but the describing music part is this: Its listening to something that is catchy (if you like the song) make you make rythms with your foot, oh god how do i explain this... its noises that calms you or makes you ''high'' on life if its an really awesome song, if you haven't heard music you wouldnt think its a big thing, and its probably best that way, so you dont feel bad about not being able to hear it.
#112 to #109 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
What's a noise? And how can it possibly make you high O_o
Rhythms, catchy? I honestly have no idea what your talking about. haha
User avatar #114 to #112 - runeception (06/24/2012) [-]
All depends on the music and the person who is listening to it. Heavy Metal, yo me, is just noise and someone screaming some words that you understand once in a while. Picture heavy metal as lots of lights flashing and trying to understand someone who is signing super fast as the lights are flashing.

Rap, well....just someone talking with a musical beat with alot of bass behind him. Not into rap either.

Techno, high energy. Lots of sythesized music, and some actual singing. Just hearing it, to me, makes me wanna dance. But, it is not my preferred type of music.

All other music...it all depends what kind of song, who is the artist, etc.
#124 to #114 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
Lol screaming... beat... bass... alright... alright.
I dont know what that is like.. but ok.

This music stuff seems confusing haha.
User avatar #126 to #124 - runeception (06/24/2012) [-]
damnit... this is hard, but i can describe it in one word: AMAZING, except the justin bieber / one direction part. :P
#127 to #126 - catzombie (06/24/2012) [-]
My brother (yes he's male) loves one direction... just sayin xD
